Created in 2006, an artist work space complex with a unique ownership structure to reflect the benefits that flow from its creative community. Philadelphia Assembled

A community building and research gathering project (2013-2018ish) led by artist Jeanne van Heewswijk in collaboration with the Philadelphia Art Museum; directory of participants includes artists, activists, historians, makers, social workers, organizers and companies. “An expansive project that tells a story of radical community building and active resistance through the personal and collective narratives that make up Philadelphia’s changing urban fabric.”

Pumping Station One, Chicago, United States

Founded in 2008, the 100% volunteer maker space and community workspace is “a place where people with an interest in arts, manufacturing, computing and technology can gather to work on projects while sharing ideas, equipment, and knowledge.”

Rosine Association 2.0, Philadelphia, United States 

Initiated by Swarthmore College, is an interdisciplinary collective of artists, harm reductionists, archivists, and community members involved in today’s street economies, specifically at the intersection of sex work and drug use. A community-driven project (culminating in March 2023) using collective practices to explore harm reduction and healing in Philadelphia.

Socrates Cafe

A non-profit organization focused on creating spaces to come together and discuss. With initiatives started in 1996, Christopher Phillips is the creator - Socrates Café is all about making ours, on local and global scales, an inclusive, thoughtful and participatory society where regular exchanges of ideas and ideals among diverse people take place. — all with the aim of creating more and more people power.
